SC Commissioner Weathers: Fall Plant and Flower Festivals

It’s fall, and that means it’s time for the annual fall plant and flower festivals hosted by the SC Department of Agriculture. Commissioner Hugh Weathers is here to tell us more.

  • Now that the weather is cooling down, it is a great time to celebrate the harvest season and find the perfect plants for your home garden.
  • Our fall festivals started this past week and will continue for the next few weeks:
    • Greenville: Sept. 22
    • Pee Dee: Sept 29-Oct 1
    • Midlands: Oct 6-8
  • There will be a wide variety of vendors selling autumn-appropriate flowers like mums, marigolds and pansies
  • This is also a great time to shop for pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, hay, and other fall decorative favorites.
  • And of course there’s plenty of Certified SC produce.
  • At the Pee Dee festival, you can also visit Aloha Kitchen, an Hawaiian restaurant on site.
  • The wide selection of plants will be tempting, so you can bring along a wagon or rent one at the festival to cart along all the flowers and items you pick and choose.
  • Admission and parking at the State Farmers Market will be free for this event.
  • The festival will be held rain or shine.
