South Carolina FFA state convention wrapped up and Commissioner Hugh Weathers is here to talk about a wonderful partnership between SCDA and FFA.
- Convention this year was a huge success and SCDA is proud to be a partner of FFA. We had a great presence during convention.
- We had human resources talking to students about careers, ACRE ran a fun trivia game to share their Seeds to Success program, Certified SC talked about the brand and what we do, and Agritourism helped at the Agritourism Association booth.
- Outside of the expo floor, some of our staff led workshops:
- Building Your Brand with Certified SC
- Growing Future Ag Entrepreneurs
- More Than Growing: The Power of Agritourism
- FFA is such a great organization, and I am always impressed when I see those blue jackets whether it’s FFA Day at the State House, interacting with them through visits to various schools or operations, or when I see them at events.
- In SC, there are over 13,000 members representing 120 FFA chapters
- FFA is a key link in the future pipeline of the agriculture industry in our state, but FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers. FFA also helps members develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways.
- We need future vets, future engineers, future scientists, future attorneys, future technology professionals, and much more to make the agribusiness industry successful. FFA helps with that tremendously.
- At the end of convention, the new state officers for the upcoming year were announced and I wanted to give them some love:
- State FFA President: Thomas Marshall from the Pendleton FFA Chapter
- State FFA Secretary: Kylie Tucker from the WTC Kershaw FFA Chapter
- Region 1 Vice President: Kaitlyn Patterson from the Seneca FFA Chapter
- Region 2 Vice President: Kayci Wilkerson from the York FFA Chapter
- Region 3 Vice President: Brooklyn Hill from the Conway FFA Chapter
- Region 4 Vice President: Anabelle Creech from the Pelion FFA Chapter
