Visit NC Farms and local content creator Megan Nichols, founder of NC Eat & Play, announced a new partnership Monday aimed at boosting agritourism across North Carolina through a year-long digital campaign.
The collaboration will feature seasonal farm experiences through social media, newsletters and blog content. According to the press release, the campaign is designed to increase awareness and visitation to farms and agricultural events statewide.
“Agriculture is the heartbeat of North Carolina,” said Erica Calderon, agritourism marketing specialist at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. “We are thrilled to work closely with NC Eat & Play to inspire more families to experience North Carolina’s rich agricultural heritage by visiting an agritourism destination.”
Beginning this month, NC Eat & Play will spotlight attractions such as U-pick farms and festive holiday experiences. The content will target both residents and travelers, connecting them with hands-on, family-friendly farm visits.
Agritourism is a growing part of the state’s economy, helping farmers generate additional income while offering the public meaningful experiences tied to North Carolina’s agricultural roots. Visitors can explore offerings through the Visit NC Farms website, including farmers markets, farm stays, wineries, farm-to-table meals and events.
The initiative is part of a broader program led by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, in partnership with local tourism leaders and farm businesses, aimed at strengthening the connection between consumers and the people who grow and produce their food.
