North Carolina Opens Applications for $8M Agriculture Manufacturing Initiative

Applications are now open for the North Carolina Agriculture Manufacturing and Processing Initiative (NCAMPI), a new $8 million program aimed at strengthening the state’s food and fiber supply chain.

Administered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, NCAMPI is designed to support the growth, modernization, and resilience of agricultural manufacturing and processing operations across the state. The initiative includes special provisions for businesses impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“North Carolina farmers and processors are the backbone of our state’s economy,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “This initiative provides $8 million to ensure that we not only expand opportunities for value-added agriculture but also support communities recovering from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene.”

The program focuses on strategic investments in equipment, infrastructure and technology to boost processing capabilities, create jobs, and build long-term resiliency in North Carolina’s top industry—agriculture and agribusiness.

Application Information

  • Deadline: Friday, Oct. 3
  • Who Can Apply: North Carolina-based value-added processors, manufacturing companies, and local government units proposing infrastructure projects
  • Eligible Uses: Equipment purchases, facility improvements, supply-chain strengthening projects, and infrastructure development such as water, wastewater and transportation systems for agricultural manufacturing sites

In response to damage from Hurricane Helene, the program will prioritize applications that:

  • Restore or replace lost processing capacity in affected areas
  • Support disaster recovery and long-term resiliency planning
  • Strengthen local food supply chains disrupted by the storm
  • Provide direct economic benefits to communities in state or federally declared disaster zones

Applicants seeking recovery-related assistance must include documentation of storm impact and explain how the proposed project will aid in recovery or improve future resilience.
