The South Carolina State Fair is set to return to Columbia from October 8–19, offering 12 days of family fun, community celebration, and a showcase of the state’s agricultural roots. This year’s theme, “Harvesting Happiness,” highlights the importance of connection, tradition, and shared experiences.
Fairgoers can look forward to a dynamic mix of beloved classics and exciting new features. Nearly 70 rides will light up the midway, including three thrilling additions: the high-speed Downdraft, the music-fueled Flash Dance, and the breezy Mulligan Swing. Popular attractions like the Tornado and Toon Town will also make their return.
Food enthusiasts will have plenty to savor, with 15 new menu items debuting this year. Highlights include Deep Fried Enchiladas over Rice, Parmesan Steak on a Stick, Reuben Sandwich Pizza, and a decadent Deep Fried Cheesecake Trio. Fair favorites like Fiske Fries, fried Oreos, and foot-long corn dogs are also back by popular demand.
A major highlight of the 2025 fair will be a visit from celebrity chef Sandra Lee, co-host of Netflix’s Blue Ribbon Baking Championship. Lee will join the opening-day ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 8 and remain through October 9 to host food competitions and promote breast cancer awareness, a cause close to her heart as a survivor and advocate.
Educational offerings this year include two major exhibits:
- “Anne Frank: A History for Today”, a powerful traveling exhibit developed by the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
- “SC250”, an immersive experience presented by the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission, which explores the state’s role in the Revolutionary War.
The fair also continues its tradition of showcasing agriculture with live demonstrations, roving performers, livestock displays, and heritage activities at Heritage Village.
While the experience is at the heart of the fair, visitors can also take advantage of advance ticket discounts available through October 7. Tickets can be purchased at participating Circle K locations or online at SCStateFair.org. Discounted admission is $10 at Circle K and $11 online, with ride vouchers available for $32–$33—a savings of up to 50% compared to gate prices.
“Your South Carolina State Fair is all about creating memories with family and friends,” said Nancy Smith, general manager of the South Carolina State Fair. “By purchasing tickets early, you can enjoy big savings and look forward to 12 days of rides, food, exhibits and entertainment.”
Founded in 1869, the South Carolina State Fair is a self-supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to celebrating the state’s people, traditions, and agricultural heritage. Since 1997, it has awarded nearly $6 million in scholarships to students across the state.
“At its heart, the S.C. State Fair is a celebration of our state’s people, culture, and traditions,” Smith said. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone back this October to share in the joy of ‘Harvesting Happiness’ together.”
