A measure before Congress would legalize E15 sales year-round once and for all. Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer is once again a sponsor to make.
“We have seen waivers for the last five years for the year-round sale of E15. The sky has not fallen, and it is very, very helpful to the farm community, but yet it’s very, very difficult to make that certain and get it done as a bill, to get this into law. Appreciate this administration and previous administrations when they would give those waivers. It’s important to do that, but we need the certainty.”
Fischer says farmers are hopeful to see the bill get across the finish line very soon.
“They want to see E15 come about as being a year-round solution to some of their issues, that they have to offer them another market, but especially to offer them that certainty that they will be able to sell a crop at a decent price and meet their obligations.”
The measure stands separate from the “skinny” Farm Bill passed by the House and now awaiting Senate action.
